A couple of days ago, it was revealed that not all the features of macOS Monterey will come to all MacBook products as they will remain exclusive to MacBooks that are powered by M1 chipsets.
Now, a similar thing appears to be true for the iPhone too. Even though iPhone 6s or newer are eligible to get iOS 15, however, there are some features that are going to be available to iPhones with the A12 Bionic chip or newer.
This means, there are certain features of iOS 15 which are only going to come to iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone SE (2nd gen), iPhone 12, and iPhone 12 Pro. Here’s a look at these features:
- Spatial audio on
- Portrait Mode on FaceTime
- Interactive globe on Maps
- Immersive walking directions on Maps
- Live Text in photos
- Visual Look Up
- New animated backgrounds on Weather
- On-device speech processing
- Keys in the Wallet
That’s not all, there are a couple of features of the iOS 15 that are exclusive only to iPhone users for now. There are:
- Panorama pictures
- Enhanced connectivity on 5G
- 5G preferred over Wi-Fi
Further, there are a couple of other iOS 15 features that require an iPhone 7 or iPhone 8, which means that iPhone 6S and SE (1st gen) users will not get them with the iOS 15 update.
- Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking
- Walking Steadiness
The iOS 15 comes with a slew of new features for FaceTime, notifications customisations, new features for Photo apps, new privacy-centric features and more. It is expected to be rolled out to iPhone users later this year, soon after the company launches its hardware products.
