Tesla employees get consumers to delete ‘mean’ social media posts about Elon Musk

He is perhaps the most prolific CEO when it comes using Twitter. So it won’t come as a surprise that Elon Musk gets ‘mean’ posts targeting him on social media. A report by Business Insider reveals that Tesla’s energy division told employees to look for mean posts against the company and its CEO. Not only that, the employees were told to get in touch with some of those posters to delete those posts.
According to the Business Insider report, which cites claims by a former Tesla employee, there is a team of more than 20 employees who look for social media posts and review sites for customer complaints against the company. Now that seems pretty standard practice that most companies might deploy. However, the former Tesla employee also revealed that these employees asked customers to delete posts of complaints if and when they were solved.
Not only this, there’s another team of 9 members whose role seems to be look for posts that have mentioned Musk in them. An ex-manager at Tesla Energy told Business Insider that employees were asked to look at #Elon, #TeslaEnergy — or anything that was related to Tesla or its CEO.
This doesn’t come as surprise because earlier this year Tesla Energy had posted a job listing looking for Sales and Customer Support specialist. The job description read, “Tesla Energy Support Specialists handle a variety of customer issues while delivering on world class customer service.” It further noted, “the role of a specialist is to resolve or escalate complaints through appropriate channels and address social media escalations directed at the CEO with critical thinking.”
