Here’s why you may have to ‘wait’ to buy an iPhone 13

The iPhone 13 series hit the shelves last month and have been praised a lot for their camera capabilities and battery life. The new iPhones every year are quite the apple of the eyes for many who aspire to buy them. However, it looks like some of them may have to wait a bit longer than expected to get their hands on the iPhone 13 series. According to a report by Bloomberg, the Cupertino-based tech giant could cut the iPhone 13 production by 10 million units due to the ongoing global chip shortage.
It was reported that during the last three months of 2021, Apple was aiming to produce 90 million units of iPhone 13. However, the Bloomberg report says that Broadcom and Texas Instruments — two of Apple’s manufacturing partners — may not be able to deliver enough components for the production.
This is no surprise as the global chip shortage has impacted the tech industry. In fact, Apple has been one of the least affected companies as many others have increased prices of their products (Xiaomi, Realme), or abandoned plans to launch devices (Samsung with the Note series).

iPhone 13 is not the only product to ‘suffer’

It is not just the iPhone 13 that is seeing an adverse impact due to the global chip shortage. Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had said that Apple has cut down MacBook shipments to half than expected because of severe shortage of components. Interestingly, Apple has announced a special event on October 18 where it is expected to unveil brand new MacBook Pro models.
Reports have suggested that the ongoing chip shortage will last well into 2022. How Apple manages to deal with is something we will get to know later when the company announces its quarterly earnings report on October 28.
