CBS Sports Predicts Serious Changes in AP Top 25 Poll After Upset-Filled Week 12

Week 12 brought a lot of surprises and a lot of close finishes in college football. Many ranked teams survived the scare, while seven AP-ranked teams lost over the weekend. After all the chaos, CBS Sports has predicted what the AP Top 25 ranking will look like when it’s revealed later on Sunday.

The College Football Playoffs rankings were nearly hit hard on Saturday. Each of the top four ranked teams – No. 1 Georgiano. 2 ohio stateNumber 3 Michigan and no. 4 TCU – played in games that came close to the wire. Georgia defeated Kentucky 16-6, as Ohio State defeated Maryland 43-30. Michigan kicked off a field goal in the final seconds to beat Illinoisand TCU did the same to it Baylor.

While the top four may have survived the fears, the same cannot be said for many teams below them. number 5 Tennessee was blown out in his play on south carolina, likely knocking the Vols out of the GVB race. No. 14 Ole Miss fought hard against Arkansas, and the Razorbacks pulled out a 42-27 upset victory. No. 13 North Carolina also had a very disappointing defeat with the Tar Heels offense looking pedestrian for the first time in a long time in the 21-17 defeat at the hands of Georgia Tech. No. 17 UCF also lost to Navyand no. 24 Oklahoma state dissapointing Oklahoma.

There were also a few ranked matchups over the weekend, both in the form of crucial Pac-12 games. No. 7 USC established itself firmly as a GVB contender, beating No. 16 UCLA, 48-45. No. 12 Oregon also defeated No. 10 Utah20-17.

Overall, the AP-ranked teams went 17-7 in Week 12. Those seven losses were big ones, and we were only a few plays away from a few more. The postseason picture remains unsettled at the top, preparing for an exciting final week of the regular season.

CBS Sports predicts that Texas will rejoin the AP Top 25 rankings this week at No. 24, taking the spot from Oklahoma State (previously No. 24).
